Saint Thomas More Catholic Church Holds Novena of Grace

Saint Thomas More Catholic Church in St. Paul is inviting those in the Twin Cities to join their parish community for a Novena of Grace. Generally performed from March 4 to March 12, the Novena of Grace is a Catholic devotion dedicated to Jesuit St. Francis Xavier.

The Novena of Grace at Saint Thomas More will consist of an Ignatian Lenten retreat on the seven deadly sins and the counter virtues to each of these vices. The retreat will be based on the first week of the Spiritual Exercises. Participants will have the opportunity to seek a spiritual or temporal favor through the Novena.

Presiders and presenters at the retreat will include Fr. Paul Lickteig, SJ, associate director of Demontreville Jesuit Retreat House in Lake Elmo, Minn.; Fr. David Haschka, SJ, associate pastor of St. Olaf Catholic Church in Minneapolis; and Fr. Warren Sazama, SJ, pastor of Saint Thomas More.

  • Day 1 — March 4 (4:30 pm Mass): Fr. Warren Sazama, SJ, on the sin of gluttony
  • Day 2 — March 5 (8 and 10:30 a.m. Masses): Fr. Warren Sazama, SJ, on the sin of gluttony
  • Day 3 — March 6 (7 p.m. Mass): Fr. Paul Lickteig, SJ, on the sin of envy
  • Day 4 — March 7 (7 p.m. Mass): Fr. Paul Lickteig, SJ, on the sin of pride
  • Day 5 — March 8 (7 p.m. Mass): Fr. Paul Lickteig, SJ, on the sin of sloth
  • Day 6 — March 9 (7 p.m. Mass): Fr. David Haschka, SJ, on the sin of greed
  • Day 7 — March 10 (7 p.m. Mass): Fr. David Haschka, SJ, on the sin of anger
  • Day 8 — March 11 (4:30 p.m. Mass): Fr. Warren Sazama, SJ, on the sin of lust and the virtue of purity of heart
  • Day 9 — March 12 (8 and 10:30 a.m. Masses): Fr. Warren Sazama, SJ, on the sin of lust and the virtue of purity of heart
